Tracey Seymour and Julie Witherstone are walking 127 miles from Liverpool to Leeds, along the canal towpath, in memory of Daniel, Tracey’s son, who sadly passed away from Ewing sarcoma and to also raise vital funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
Tracey and Julie will be walking over a period of 6 days starting on Monday 28th March 2022 ending in Leeds City Centre on Saturday 2nd April. Daniel was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in his spine when he was just 8 years old. After operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy he was given the all clear in 2010.
Julie said:
In May 2018 Daniel received the devastating news that the tumour had returned in the same place. The next 3 years of treatment were tough for Daniel, he just wanted to be a regular teenager like his friends. He did enjoy some of his favourite things in between treatment, going to Leeds Festival twice (he loved his rock music), teaching himself the drums and gaming with his friends.
Daniel sadly passed away on the 25th of June 2021 aged 20.

In an effort to fill a small part the massive void left behind, Julie and I have been busy training with readiness for the challenge in March. We’re supporting the Bone Cancer Research Trust because without them and the research they fund, we wouldn’t have had anywhere near the amount of time we managed to spend together over the years of illness and treatment.
