We are thrilled to announce that Liberty’s Legacy, a Special Fund of the Bone Cancer Research Trust, has raised an additional £16,500 for vital research into Ewing sarcoma after being selected as one of three charity partners for the GX Fun Run 2022.
Having first participated in the Gerrards Cross event in 2018, it is a huge honour for Liberty’s Legacy and #TeamLibs to be recognised in this way. We are delighted to report that the fun-filled family event was a huge success and helped to raise an incredible £16,500 for research into Ewing sarcoma in Liberty’s memory.
The main activities across the day included a 5k run, children's races, and a jog with your dog event, along with live music, fundraising stalls, and refreshments to keep everyone entertained. Attendees even took a gamble on a Liberty's Legacy-branded human fruit machine!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Liberty's family and friends who work tirelessly to raise vital funds and awareness in Liberty's memory. Their support means that research into Ewing sarcoma can continue until we find a cure for this cruel disease. I would also like to say a heartfelt thanks to the organisers of the GX Fun Run for selecting Liberty's Legacy as one of this year's partner charities, as well as all the wonderful fun runners who joined us on the racetrack. What a fantastic turnout!
Liberty Schurer was just 13 years old when she was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma.
Her diagnosis came after discomfort she had been suffering in her lower left leg were dismissed as growing pains and sports injuring following several GP and hospital visits. Liberty sadly passed away on 11th October 2017, just two weeks after her 14th birthday.
To prevent this tragedy happening to others, her family set up Liberty's Legacy as per Liberty's wish to increase awareness of Ewing sarcoma and raise vital funds for research into the disease, alongside ensuring that she would never be forgotten.
Thanks to the continued support of our fundraisers, we can continue our mission to improve the outcomes for teenagers like Liberty, along with children and adults who are facing Ewing sarcoma.
