The Bone Cancer Research Trust is proud to unveil its latest impact report, Driving Change, Delivering Hope, which outlines the progress that has been made towards improving outcomes for patients.

he Bone Cancer Research Trust remains dedicated to supporting groundbreaking, collaborative research aimed at improving outcomes for primary bone cancer patients.

Now well into our 2022–2032 strategic period, this report highlights the progress made up to March 2025, following the publication of our previous edition in 2023.

Patient and family perspectives are central to our research funding process. Our Patient and Public Involvement Panel (PPIP) has played a key role in shaping our understanding of research impact. Their insights have been integrated into this report to ensure it more accurately reflects what ‘impact’ means to those directly affected by primary bone cancer, and how it can be communicated in the most meaningful and effective way.

Highlights: Since our last impact report in 2023, and with the support of the incredible bone cancer community:

  1. We have committed another £3.2 million to research over the last two years, taking our total since 2006 to over £11 million.
  2. We are already 59% of the way towards achieving our strategic aim of investing £10m in research between 2022-2032.
  3. Since 2017, we have facilitated the collection of over 14,000 patient samples through our Infrastructure Grants.
  4. The Ad-ICONIC clinical study has completed its first year as the largest osteosarcoma collaboration in the UK.
  5. A Clinical Trial Support Grant is supporting the introduction of a new drug (Lenvatinib) to the rEECur trial for Ewing sarcoma patients.
  6. We have Provided 67 research grants to support early career researchers.
  7. Since 2006, research funded by BCRT has resulted in 125 scientific publications, which has been cited in scientific literature over 5,000 times.
