A former student at Blackrock College, 20-year-old Sean had been an avid sports fan and player before falling ill, and had been involved both in Bray Emmets and soccer at Cabinteely.

His funeral mass at the Queen of Peace Church was attended by hundreds of mourners, including Pat Kenny, who delivered the first reading, former Bray resident Charlie Bird, and news readers Anne Doyle and Brian Dobson.

'He was more than just a son to his parents Una and Colm,' said Fr. Finbarr Mullane, at the Queen of Peace, he was their friend.

It was a humbling experience and a privilege to be dealing with them. Many of Sean's friends from Blackrock College were among the hundreds of mourners who packed the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bray for his Requiem Mass.

His burial took place in Shanganagh Cemetery. Fr Finbarr Mullane, pointed out that although Sean was only 20 when he died, he had fulfilled a lot in such a short life.
